HAZLET – Heads up. Hazlet Plaza, at Poole Avenue and Route 35 North, is getting a facelift. A contractor was taking measurements Friday, a merchant said.
Property owner Park Brooke Hazlet said it will spend about $500,000 for a façade upgrade along its 1,270 foot long front, according to a zoning permit filed at Town Hall.
The shopping center, once anchored by shuttered Toys R Us, faces the Hazlet Town Center shopping plaza across Route 35. That center is now undergoing major renovation by OASG Hazlet, LLC with new tenant Burlington, and soon lots of plantings, the planned expansion and relocation of Planet Fitness, the addition of Panera Bread and another unnamed restaurant.
An application for a Wawa with gas, opposed by two Hazlet gas station owners, is still being heard by the Land Use Board.
The Hazlet Plaza shopping center is now hosting a Spirit Halloween pop-up, as well as several popular Hazlet destinations like Normandie Bakery, Gem’s, the Max Challenge of Hazlet, Philadelphia Pretzel Co.
