Voters OK Fire District Vehicles, Equipment Purchases

The Hazlet Fire District #1 holds monthly public meetings and elections at Hazlet Town Hall.

HAZLET – Voters overwhelmingly approved capital purchases recommended by the Hazlet Fire Commissioners for Hazlet Fire District #1 in a special meeting election held last night at Town Hall.

The Oct. 9 special election was required by state law to give the public the opportunity to weigh in on spending money from reserves for a self-contained breathing apparatus fill station and four command vehicles, to be spread among the three companies.

In separate news, on Sunday, Oct. 13, the public is invited to an open house event hosted at Hazlet Fire Company #1 at 570 Holmdel Road to dedicate two new fire trucks, one for West Keansburg Fire Co. and the other from North Centerville Fire Co. as well offer information about fire prevention and safety. There will be food and soft drinks.
