Truck Snaps Pole on Rt. 35, Causing Delays and Power Outages

A truck hit and snapped a utility pole around 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, causing traffic detours and power outages.

HAZLET –A box truck with New York plates crashed into a utility pole on Route 35, near the intersection with Holmdel Road and overturned on the roadway just past Anchor Care & Rehabilitation around 3 p.m. today.

The incident snapped the pole and caused local power outages, including the traffic lights.

Traffic was snarled. Motorists traveling north on Route 35 were halted at Hazlet Avenue and diverted past the post office towards Middle Road.

Traffic was being diverted by police around the Exxon gas station, and allowed to merge back on Route 35.

About 95 customers were without power, including Anchor Care, around 5:30 p.m., according to JCP&L
