HAZLET –Vendors, crafters and community organizations are invited to sign up for the annual Hazlet Day town celebration, to be held Saturday, Sept. 28 at Veterans Park. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 29.
The festive event with live music offers locals an opportunity to learn about Hazlet-focused nonprofits and charities, meet a variety of local merchants, or chat with elected leaders and political candidates. They can browse booths staffed by the Hazlet Township Education Association, the town library staff, environmental advocates, the scouting clubs and booster clubs.
For kids, there are classic games, a rock wall, a little train ride, a bounce house and fun snacks. Dance schools give amazing performances. An exotic animal show is expected to make its debut.
Hazlet Day is also an opportunity to meet the volunteers representing Hazlet First Aid and Hazlet Fire departments, and ask questions. Hazlet Police will also be stationed at the event. Middletown Police will offer their impaired driving demo.
Look for a new layout this year, with space utilized differently than in years past. “We’re trying to circulate it so everyone will be seen,” said Hazlet Day organizer Mary Paraskevas, a volunteer with the Hazlet Recreation Advisory Council.
Spaces measuring 10 x 10 are available. The fees are $35 for craft vendors, $60 for businesses and free for community groups. The food vendors fee is $150 for residents, and $200 for non-residents. The deadline to reserve a spot is Sept. 9. An application can be downloaded from the Hazlet Recreation website.
For more information, contact Paraskevas by email at email@example.com with Hazlet Day in the subject line. Questions can also be answered by Hazlet Recreation at 732-217-8648 or 8683.
I’ll be there, representing The Hazletonian! Please stop over to say hello.
