HAZLET –A kitchen improvement store has boldly set up shop right across the street from Home Depot.
Finally filling the triangular-shaped lot at 3445 Route 35 where a failing mattress chain franchise operated, Kitchen Fabulous opened in mid-March, offering dreamy remodeling ideas for trendy kitchen and bathrooms.
It’s the second location for the original Kitchen Fabulous store at 230 Route 22 West in Green Brook, which is seeking to expand its customer base beyond Somerset County. The 95-year old 2200-square foot building was most recently occupied by Sleepy’s, which was bought out by Mattress Firm in 2016. It was eyed by a lingerie store called Naughty But Nice for a long moment in 2017, but their application was slapped down by Hazlet’s zoning office. They began to launch an appeal, but eventually moved on.
Raymond Liu, the 25-year old onsite manager, said the company is enjoying the visibility of being on busy Route 35 and has already sold kitchen renovations to a few customers who stopped in.
The business owner is Man Ying Huang of Sayreville, according to township documents. On its website, the company says customers can expect 20-50 percent in savings compared to major home centers, a choice of 130 different colors and styles of wood construction cabinets, and turnaround time of 3-7 days.
“We basically do everything for the kitchen – floors, kitchen cabinets, countertops, tile, backsplashes” said Liu in the modern, sun drenched showroom that is still not completely filled out with floor models.
The company proudly sells semi-custom cabinetry from brands like Forevermark and Fabuwood. Showing a display of cabinet doors mounted on the wall, Liu said, “We don’t sell particle board. We sell medium to high grade cabinets.”
In countertops, the company sells a lot of granite and quartz surfaces by brands like MSI, Caesarstone, Cambria and Pental Quartz. With a warehouse in Bridgewater, the company can show off tons of slabs and do its own custom work.
Quartz countertops, manufactured from natural stone, are scratch and heat resistant, Liu said. A display shows the popular Calacatta pattern in quartz, which is distinctive for the “veins” that run through the tile. “Quartz is the latest trend,” said Liu.
The company offers services such as measurements, design, 3D computer layouts and installation.
Kitchen Fabulous is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., closed on Sunday. The phone number is 732-217-3361. The store can be reached from Route 35 North (right after Ray’s Real Pizza) or from Clark Street, which runs behind it.
